Reduce the frequency of your consumption of foods that stay in your mouth for prolonged periods of time (gum, mints, lollipops, etc.). Avoid soft, sticky sweets such as toffee, dried fruits, etc. If you do have sweets, serve them with meals. The increased saliva flow helps neutralize the effect of sugar. Cut down the number of times you snack or eat foods high in sugar content. Rinsing your mouth with water after having sugar content is a very good idea also! Or better yet, if you can get to your floss and tooth brush, go for it! If you have any questions concerning sugars and how they affect dental health, let us know.
