Yes, it is possible to do a root canal on a baby, or primary tooth. It may be necessary due to an accident or fall involving the face. Luckily, the procedure is less complicated and time-consuming than a root canal on a permanent tooth. Saving baby teeth is important because of the role they play in speech development, holding a place for permanent teeth and appearance (particularly the front teeth). In some cases, we may decide to monitor the injured tooth for signs of infection or swelling rather than proceeding with a root canal. We’d be happy to discuss these options with you.
